Need a place to store all those pins that you have collected from the parks? Go to your local hobby shop and buy a shadow box and a piece of foam. Glue the foam to the back of the shadow box and cover with some type of fabric. Now you can stick your favorite pins into the foam and hang the box on the wall for all to enjoy.
Don't want to lose your sun glasses on vacation? Buy a rubber neck strap to attach to your glasses. This way you can just let them hang while on an attraction and not lose them.
Pick up some individually packed wet wipes for convenience on your next trip to a Disney park. They come in handy and are easy to carry.
Need that Dole Whip fix and not going to a Disney park. Check your local fair, you just might be surprised
Before you leave for your vacation make out address labels so you can send postcards to friends and family. This way you know who has been sent one and who is left.
If you have a portable GPS to use at the Disney Park. While you are still standing at the door of your room make this location with a waypoint to make it easier to find later. If you drive your car to the parks. Put a temporary waypoint at the location of your car in the parking lot to make it easier to find after a long day of fun in the park.
This weekend I had the opportunity to go to a DIS Meet. You ask what is a DIS meet? If you are not familiar with DIS it is an online Disney community, with a very large number of members on their discussion boards. There is a group of DIS members that live in the DFW area and have a meet every 3 to 4 months. They start a DFW meet thread about 4 weeks before to give people a chance to sign up and pick a location. There are a number of Disney communities on the Internet so if you need that Disney fix, go to your favorite Disney community website and see if there is a meet in your area and if not start one. I had a great time and met some nice folks and look forward to the next one.
The one thing we hope no one ever has to experience is to lose their child at a Disney Theme Park. So just in case this was to happen you can go to a website called who's shoes id and purchase a tag that you attach to the shoe laces of your child's shoes. You place your child's name, your name and phone number, your doctors name and phone number, medical conditions and date of birth of your child. Another alternative is to go to a place like Walmart that has a dog tag machine and have one made with your name and phone number and lace the dog tag through your child's shoe strings. Be sure to attach the tag at the bottom of the shoe laces just in case their shoes come untied the tag will stay on.
If you have been to any of the Disney parks you should already know how much walking you can do. So about six months before your next trip start a walking routine to be in shape for your vacation. Even if your work requires you to do a lot of walking it would still be a good idea to start an exercise routine. If you are going to need new shoes for your vacation purchase them at the same time as you start to exercise. Do not go with a new pair of shoes. Your shoes should be broken in for your trip. Remember that your feet are one of your most important things for a Disney vacation, so take good care of them.
If you only travel once or twice a year and use your credit card it is a good idea to call your credit card company and let them know the dates you will be gone and where you are going. A lot of credit card companies will shut down your card if they see unusual transactions. For example if they see gas purchases out of state this sends up a red flag and they shut off the card. All it takes is a simple call to have the problem solved and the card reactivated but that is one problem that is better off not having while you are on vacation.
One item to pack for your next trip are a few extra batteries. Now were not talking batteries for you camera or video recorder but for the toys that you purchase from the parks. On our last trip we purchased a toy for our son that requires batteries and before the trip was over the batteries were dead. If we would had packed a few extra of the most popular sizes we would not have had to buy them from the parks. This would have saved us a little cash and they don't that up that much space when packing.
Before our last trip we purchased new luggage. We found what I call Mickey Mouse red and just had to have it. After our flight to Disneyland and back the luggage now has black marks all over it. I'm sure they will clean off but if we had just bought black luggage we would have never seen the marks. So if you don't mind cleaning your luggage go with something different and make it easier to find your luggage out of all the other.
When you attend any Disney Park be considerate of others and if you need to stop for some reason move out of the walkway. If you have a large group of people try to not all walk beside each other and take up the whole walkway. Pair up and walk behind the others. When you are waiting in line for an attraction or food cart try not to let the line go across a walkway. If at all possible bend the line along side the attraction or food cart. I realize that sometimes we can not control these things but every little bit helps.
